The Sharkstooth Scrim is the single most useful piece of soft goods a stage can own, and the reason is a trick of light woven right into the fabric. Its open, tooth-like leno weave reads as a solid wall when you light it from the front, then all but disappears the instant you kill the front light and bring up a wash behind it. That front-lit-to-back-lit reveal is the workhorse effect behind ghostly appearances, dream sequences, scene bleed-throughs, and the slow dissolve from a painted drop to a live tableau — and it is why every serious theater, opera house, and touring production keeps at least one sharkstooth in its inventory.

We cut and sew every sharkstooth to your exact stage, not to a catalog size. Tell us the finished width and drop, your hanging hardware, and how it needs to travel, and we build it with sewn hems, reinforced webbing and grommets or tie lines across the top, and a chain-weight or pipe pocket along the bottom so it hangs dead flat with no billow. Black is by far the most requested because it vanishes most completely against a dark cyc, but we also stock white, grey, and natural for projection, bleed, and daylight looks. Because scrim is often flown near instruments and pyrotechnics, we offer inherently and topically flame-retardant fabric certified to NFPA 701, with documentation for your venue’s fire marshal.

Sharkstooth also takes decoration beautifully when you want the reveal to start from an image rather than a blank field. Dye-sublimation printing drives full-color artwork deep into the weave for a painted-drop look that still turns transparent on cue; seamless screen printing lays down bold graphic marks; and traditional hand-painting gives you the irreplaceable texture of scenic art. Whether you need a plain black utility scrim for a rep plot, a printed portal for a musical, or a hand-painted show drop for a one-off gala, the same fabric does the job.

Ordering is simple and low-risk. Send us your dimensions, your fabric and color preference, and any artwork, and we return a photo-real mockup within 24 to 48 hours showing exactly how your scrim will look and hang. Revisions are free until you approve, and because these are large made-to-order pieces we price per piece by square footage rather than by the pallet — with volume discounts for rental houses and touring productions running multiple identical units.
