Sewn from deep matte-black velour, commando cloth, or duvetyne, it is engineered to absorb light rather than reflect it, so masked-off areas read as true, endless black instead of a visibly draped wall. That infinite-black surround is the foundation of clean stage pictures everywhere — it hides wings, crew, cabling, and back-of-house, isolates a lit performer against nothing, and gives lighting and video the pure black field they need to pop.

You choose flat panels for a taut, seamless wall or sewn fullness (typically 50 to 100 percent) for the soft, pleated look that reads as luxurious depth in a proscenium house. Finishing follows stage-crew convention — sewn hems, a reinforced webbing-and-grommet or tie-line top for pipe or track, and a bottom chain-weight pocket so the drape hangs dead-flat and dead-still even in a moving-air room.
